Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) February 2019 - Visiting Committee Summary The WCEA Visiting Committee observed that by providing academic excellence in a Christ-centered community for over sixty-four years, Saint Thomas More School has established a legacy that inspires its student, parents, faculty, and staff to share the good news that is Catholic Education.
In particular, the Visiting Committee was very impressed by the student leadership group, whose articulate testimonials to the Visiting Committee regarding all aspects of being a Saint Thomas More student was resounding affirmation of the importance of their Catholic Education. The students love their teachers and their engagement in their education throughout the Visiting Committee's observations.
Teacher collaboration and camaraderie were evident throughout the campus. This interaction sets a tone for a school culture of independence, responsible citizenship, academic excellence, and Catholic values.
Teachers set clear expectations and model self-reliance for their students. The Visiting Committee observed parents committed to being primary educators of their children through their support of the school values and their trust in the administration and faculty. Parents go above and beyond their required service hours at the school.
The Visiting Committee observed that Saint Thomas More School seeks to implement innovative best practices to meet the needs of all students. The positive use of technology permeates learning in all grade levels and supports their goal of creating independent, self-reliant thinkers. The integration of the STEAM/Makerspace program has enriched the curriculum and promotes problem solving skills, creativity, and collaboration among students.
Saint Thomas More School offers various enrichment opportunities after school that allow students to develop many different interests and talents. The Learning Support Program (LSP) and Bridges Program have been beneficial to students in need of remediation or enrichment in the primary grades. The parents feel that Saint Thomas More School takes a proactive, transparent approach in communicating with parents about student needs.
